Tourist trail New Ross.

"New York, New York" as the Frank Sinatra classic goes. Forget that! Try, "New Ross, New Ross!" I mean, what a place! As Tourism goes, New Ross has it all!

It could be big attractions like the Dunbrody replica famine ship or the local Alkys necking cans on a bench in front of the ship. It could be the numerous coffee shops and restaurants that attract you with artisan products or it could be the shady, neglected alleyways with funky smells if that is your vibe. We have the 800 year-old Norman Abbey or the 40 year old town park with central seating for hash smokers, public toilets worth avoiding and basketball courts full of wannabe gangsters.

Why not add into the mix no-go areas where only the brave visit. Or take in the painted walls around the old town. Choose from commissioned art on huge gable walls or pictures of wildly exaggerated penises everywhere you look.

Need a drink? Join the locals beering away or sniffing illicit substances off bar counters and toilet cisterns Why not avoid the off-licences and just shoplift like some select locals in the big German supermarkets?

There are many sports grounds, pitches, tracks and courts to choose from. But the real sport is Tuesdays outside the Post Office and the surrounding pubs.

Our library is a late night place of study and community on the inside but avoid the plague of dog poo on the outside!

And did you know that the town is also referred to as 'Ross Vegas'? That might be because every visit is a gamble or because there are more bookies than residents.

And a recent addition is the impressive Norman park and gardens that flow down towards the river. An Instagrammable spot during the day and a great spot for beatings, bottles and brawls late at night.

And that river... take a cruise on the Barrow Princess or watch the oil, logs and pollution float up and down with the tide.

New Ross certainly has it all and is the town that never sleeps! That may be as a result of the junkies on uppers, the methadone brigade or the townies with a slab of cans... but trust me, there is always something going on! Remember to keep your eyes open and your mouth closed!
